Wenchi Methodist Hospital cry for anti snake venom

The Medical Director of the Wenchi Methodist Hospital Dr Boateng Bosomtwe  has disclosed to Newsmen that  lack of anti snake venoms in the facility is causing the facility since cases of snake bite has increase in the municipality.

Dr Boateng Bosomtwe said due to the lack of anti snake bite venom in the Wenchi Methodist Hospital rendering them unable to appropriately manage these cases.

He made these known  when the chief executive officer of the DVLA Mr Kwasi Agyemang Busia visited the accident and emergency unit of the health facility with his family and some New Patriotic Party (NPP) stalwarts and provided to the hospital curtains, bedsheets and also paid for the emergency unit to be entirely painted.

During the visit Mr Kwasi Agyemang Busia also paid for medical bills to a snake bite victim who was admitted at the accident and emergency unit.

He added that antivenom treatment can cost between GH 250.00 to GH 300.00 at hospitals.

Without the intervention of Mr Agyemang Busia the snake bite victim would have find it very difficult to pay for his medical bills Dr Boateng Bosomtwe said.

The Medical Director said many lives are still at risk as the season sets in and called on government to immediate release of the antivenom drugs to stock the medical stores.
