Referees still not “normalised” – Aduana Stars coach

The coach of Aduana Stars, W.O Tandoh, has called on the Normalisation Committee set up to oversee Ghana football in the interim to call referees to order following his side’s 0 – 1 defeat to Kumasi Asante Kotoko on matchday one of the Normalisation Committee’s special competition over the weekend.

Aduana Stars had a goal disallowed by the centre referee after he ruled the scorer to have been in an offside position. This infuriated Coach Tandoh who believes the goal should have been accepted because the ball had struck a Kotoko defender before reaching the scorer.

Reacting to the centre referee’s decision in a post-match interview, Coach Tandoh said such decisions could mar the beauty of the competition.

He told journalists: “Our officials must normalise themselves, too, because it will be suicidal the next time anybody takes the rules to defend somebody who is weak.

“I want to tell the Normalisation Committee chairman and the Referees Appointment Committee that they should be observant because what happened was bad.”

Coach Tandoh pleaded with the organisers of the competition to pay attention to match officials, saying: "If they want us to have a good tournament, they should work on the referees because they are still not normalised".
