Ensure Clean Environment To Help Prevent Malaria

Medical Officer at the Wench Methodist Hospital, Dr. Bosomtwe Boateng has urged Ghanaians to take precautions against the rising incidence of malaria by keeping their surroundings clean.

He said the spread of the diseases which include diarrhoea and malaria can be prevented by maintaining hygiene at home as mosquitoes are known to lay their eggs and breed in stagnant water.


Dr. Bosomtwe Boateng further stresses that it is better to avoid the disease than get infected and having to take medication because sometimes the disease can cause death.

According to him the most leading diseases at the Wenchi Methodist Hospital is malaria and diarrhoea.

He reiterated that it is very important to make sure there is no stagnant water in places such as containers and tyres and making sure that the gutters and drains are not blocked by rubbish.

Besides eradicating mosquito breeding grounds, Dr. Bosomtwe Boateng encouraged the public to cultivate the habit of always sleeping under the insecticide treated nets.

The Medical Officer disclosed this in an interview with a section of the Media Practitioners in Wenchi of the Bono Region.
