Prevention is better than cure, and the first step towards preventing diseases is maintaining good hygiene.
On Tuesday, October 15th, this year the world observed Global Handwashing Day to raise awareness about the importance of washing our hands with soap,an effective way to prevent diseases and save lives.
The theme for Ghana on this year's celebration is " Clean Hands for All" reminding that we must be inclusive when addressing handwashing disparities.
This year's theme follows the push to leave no one behind in the Sustainable Development agenda.
Inequalities in handwashing facilities and effective handwashing promotion programmes can put individuals at higher risk for diseases that impact the health, education and economic outcomes.
In view of the above, the Resource Link Foundation,a Non Governmental Organization (NGO), deems it very important to intensity menstrual health education and handwashing with soap in some selected schools in in the Bono Region.
The Country Director of Resource Link Foundation, Mr Christopher Dapaah disclosed this at the commissioning of two mechanized boreholes and the celebration of this year's global handwashing day at Banda Boase and Banda Kabrono in the Banda District of Bono Region.
According to Mr Christopher Dapaah, the occasion was used to educate the Pupils on general sanitation, menstrual hygiene and commission two boreholes and handwashing equipment (veronica buckets, soap etc) at Banda Boase and Banda Kabrono basic schools under the theme " Clean Hands for All"
To make our education sustainable, we expect all parents and Ghana Education Service, the Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies and Central Government and all stakeholders to make resources and opportunities available in the promotion of the Basic education to ensure solid foundation for making the Free SHS policy and practices relevant for holistic development Mr Dapaah emphasized.
The Chief of Banda Boase, Nana Ligbi Worrotei II thanked Resource Link Foundation for the gesture and called on Government and other stakeholders to come to their aid to provide them with a dul desk.
Meanwhile Nana Sakyameh Seneapem the Chief of Banda Kabrono also commended the Resource Link Foundation for the gesture and called on Government to come to their aid to provide them a toilet facility and electricity.
