Six - Unit Classroom Block Handed Over To Alhaji Benne Basic School In Wenchi

Six unit classroom block has been completed at Alhaji Benne Islamic basic School in Wenchi in the Wenchi Municipality of Bono Region.

The project which started in 2011 is being funded by the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFUND).

At the handing over ceremony, the Municipal Chief Executive of Wenchi Municipality, Dr. Prince Kwakye Afiriyie called on the Director of the Ghana Education Service and teaching staff of the school to cultivate a maintenance culture.

He reiterated that, there was the need to maintain the structure in order to achieve the purpose for which it was constructed.

The Municipal Director of Education, Mrs Effua Amuah was greatfull to the assembly for coming to their aid.

The contractor, Mr William Hamot of SAMATRUST Company Limited was greatfull the the assembly for their cooperation.

According to him the initial works of the building was very bad when he took over.

He later handed over the keys of the block to the MCE.

In a related story Dr. Kwakye Afiriyie has rejected a six unit classroom block at Noria Mauzu Islamic Basic School also in Boadan a suburb of Wenchi in the Wenchi Municipality for not up to standard.

The rejected project was funded GETFUND and awarded to Gren Path Enterprise.
Dr Prince Kwakye Afiriyie explained to newsmen why have rejected the building.


Mrs Effua Amuah, the Wenchi Municipal Director of the Ghana Education Service commended the MCE for not accepted the project and said it is a sign of warning to other contractors who are doing shoddy works.
