Fire has swept through a part of the Ghana Revenue Authority head office annex building along the Ring Road Central in Accra Sunday morning.
Personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service are currently at the scene struggling to fight the fire which started from the last floor of the two-storey building, from spreading to other parts of the office complex.
The building, located at the Kwame Nkrumah Circle and next to Busy Internet, is the Large Taxpayer Unit of the GRA in Accra.
An eyewitness told our correspondent Nuong Faalong that the fire started very early in the morning, but they only managed to get through to the Fire Service after several attempts.
“We noticed the building was on fire, so we rushed here and started placing calls to the Fire Service. It took a while for them to pick up, and when they got here, we really didn’t know what they were doing,” the eyewitness narrated in Twi.
Footage from the scene showed cars parked in front of the building being pushed out. Thick smoke billowed out of the building into the atmosphere while the fire intensifies from the left side of the office to the right.
Police personnel are meanwhile at the scene and have cordoned the area.
