
Some two persons who contracted the novel coronavirus disease have recovered fully, President Akufo-Addo has disclosed.
Addressing Ghanaians in a national broadcast late Friday, the President recounted that the global plague has claimed 4 souls in Ghana with a total of 137 confirmed cases by health officials.
“Indeed 97% of all confirmed cases are travellers who brought the disease from outside our shores. Of the remaining 59 confirmed cases, 53 are receiving treatment and are doing well and they will be discharged should their second test results prove negative. Fourteen of them are being managed at home in self isolation,” he stated.
Meanwhile, the President has announced a lockdown in Accra and Kumasi Metropolis following a spike in cases of the covid-19 pandemic.
The directive will affect Accra, Kumasi, Tema, Kasoa among others.
Meanwhile, essential workers have been exempted from the temporary measures announced by the President as the lockdown takes effect Monday dawn.
