Good evening colleagues. This serves to update the house on an event that occurred at the emergency this dawn. A 75 year old man was rushed to the emergency at dawn in respiratory distress. At the Triage unit the patient and the relatives explained to the triage nurse that they have travelled from UK recently and the patient has even been tested in Ghana and awaiting results. This information was not relayed to the MO on duty. The MO transferred the patient to Resuscitation unit and set up a CIPAP on him. Later the team got to know that the patients result had come and that he was positive for covid 19. When management attention was drawn the staff determined as contact to this patient were rallied and have been sent into quarantine. The patient has passed away and the body has been moved to mortuary for burial protocols. Meanwhile the emergency has been closed down for disinfection tomorrow dawn. The emergency may reopen on Sunday or latest by Monday.
