Reject foreigners without Covid-19 negative clearance – Gov’t to landlords

The Ministry of Works and Housing says Landlords must turn down potential foreign tenants who fail to produce clearance of coronavirus.
Speaking at the Ministry of Information Press briefing on Covid-19 on Tuesday, the Minister, Mr. Atta Akyea warned that it is now mandatory for Landlords to demand Covid-19 negative clearance from foreigners before renting out their apartments to them.
He advised Landlords to be wary of potential tenants, especially non-Ghanaian citizens amidst the spike in covid-19 cases.
“We all know that this pandemic has been imported, so be careful that in the name of dollars, you won’t bring in a foreigner who hasn’t gotten clearance,…I need not remind you that the virus is an importation from foreigners and those who had contacts with them prior to the lockdown” he said.
Ghana’s case count of covid-19 has shot up to 1,671 from 1,550, the Director-General of the Ghana Health Service, Dr Patrick Aboagye has announced.
Meanwhile, the number of fatalities has scaled up to 16 with some 188 recoveries.
The Ghana Health Service gave the latest update at the Information Ministry’s Presser.
