
The minister of Works and Housing also the MP for Akyem Abuakwa South constituency Hon Samuel Atta Akyea, on Saturday, May 16, 2020, donated some personal protective equipment (PPEs) and other food items to the Kyebi Hospital to help the health workers in the hospital to fight against the deadly coronavirus COVID-19.
The supplies include 10 – Bags of rice,10 – Boxes of oil, 5000 Face masks,5000 Gloves 1000 pieces of Sanitizers among other protective items.
Presenting the equipment at a short ceremony held at the hospital, the MP for the area, Hon Atta Akyea said, he was inspired by the need to adequately prepare the health workers in the district to fight against the novel coronavirus COVID-19
On his part, Dr Nii Duodu, The medical superintendent of the Kyebi Hospital, who received the supplies on behalf of the hospital management, thanked the Honourable member of Parliament for the laudable gesture and assured him that the PPE would be used for the intended purpose in order to protect both health workers and persons who visit the hospital
In another development, Hon Samuel Atta Akyea donated to the Abuakwa South Municipal Assembly, the items included 38 sets of Veronica buckets and it stands, 36 Dustbins, 35 Rubber bowls, 24 Tissues, 17 liquid soap, 5000 Face masks, 1000 Hand sanitizers
Hon Samuel Atta Akyea during his second donations to the constituency indicated that ” “the president is from Kyebi, the Finance minister is from Kyebi and am also here, as we are all dealing with this global pandemic ( Covid-19) challenge confronting us, I urge Ghanaians to wash and sanitize their hands at every opportunity they get and also continue to abide by the directives of the president and the ministry of health.”
He noted that the disease is real and cautioned the public to adhere to the necessary precautions as has been announced by the government.
“This is not a time for politics besides I don’t want to do politics with the donations that are presented to the president representative in the constituency Hon Kojo Ofori Safo, we should observe social distancing and avoid handshaking,” Hon Samuel Atta Akyea said
The municipal chief executive, Hon Kojo Ofori Safo in receiving the donations on behalf of the Abuakwa South Municipal Assembly said “the measures put in place by the government since the outbreak of this global disease has been spot on and I commended the president for the leadership he has so far provided. I ones again thanked Hon Samuel Atta Akyea for his kind gesture in the municipality.” Hon MCE said
