Arrest Mfantseman MP’s killers as soon as possible – Akufo-Addo to police

 

President Nana Akufo-Addo has asked the police to swiftly bring killers of the Member of Parliament for Mfantseman, Ekow Quansah Hayford to book.

In a Facebook post, the President said he is saddened by the death of the lawmaker.

The president shared a memory of his last encounter with the deceased in June 2020 when he commissioned a water project in Mr. Quansah Hayford’s constituency.

He also expressed his condolences to the family of the deceased.

“I am shocked and saddened by news of the murder of the Member of Parliament for Mfantseman, Hon. Ekow Kwansa Hayford, by suspected armed robbers in the early hours of this morning. It is a sad day for Mfantseman and for Mother Ghana. My last encounter with him was on 30th June, this year, when I commissioned a water supply project at Anomansa, in his constituency.

“By all accounts, he was very much appreciated and loved by his constituents, and I expect the police to bring the perpetrators of this gruesome, cruel act to book as soon as possible. My deepest condolences to his family, to the Mfantseman constituency, to the New Patriotic Party, and to Parliament. May his soul rest in perfect peace,” he said.

Meanwhile, a statement signed by the Director of Public Affairs, Police Service, Sheila Abayie Buckman said the IGP has dispatched specialized investigators from the Homicide and Anti-armed robbery units of the CID Headquarters to support the Central Region’s Crime Scene Team to solve the alleged robbery incident and murder of the MP.

The body of the MP has been deposited at the Saltpond Hospital Mortuary for preservation.

According to reports, the MP was shot by armed robbers when he was returning from a campaign at Nkusukum on the Mankessim-Abeadze Duadze road on Friday 9th October, 2020 around 1:00am.
