Special Prosecutor Martin Amidu has called on the presidency to take his report on analysis of the risk of corruption on the Agyapa Royalties deal seriously.
He warned the Presidential spokesperson Eugene Arhin to desist from downplaying his analysis on the Agyapa Royalties deal.
“The sixty-four(64) page report must be taken seriously to make corruption a very high-risk enterprise in Ghana,” he said in a statement.
According to him, the statement from the presidency following his work on the royalties deal appeared to patronise his office and the strenuous job they’ve done.
Mr. Amidu said he declined an offer by the President to hand him a copy of the Finance Minister’s responses to his analysis on the royalties deal.
Meanwhile, former President John Dramani Mahama has said returning the controversial Agyapa Royalties Agreement to Parliament is not an option.
He maintained that there is ample evidence that the state has been shortchanged in the deal and should be withdrawn completely.
“For me, the issue is not about returning it to parliament for review. I think it should be withdrawn completely. And there is no hurry to bring it back; I mean a whole new look should be taken about what we want to do with our gold royalties and then consensus built around it before any such agreement is brought to parliament,” he argued.
