#MuseBOTY20: KiDi’s ‘Enjoyment’ is Most Played Song on Ghanaian radio

 

Ghanaian singer KiDi is enjoying, literally!

His song ‘Enjoyment’ is number one on Muse Bangers of the Year 2020 – a multi-platform music initiative instituted to highlight the songs that dominated the Ghanaian radio landscape for the year 2020.

The initiative also looked to reiterate the power and relevance of radio platforms in shaping the taste of consumers and amplifying the works of music talents.

‘Enjoyment’ garnered a total of four thousand, seven hundred and twenty two (4722) spins on over 80 stations across the country reaching over 15 million people.

‘Say Cheese’ off Kidi’s ‘Blue’ EP is the second most played song on the chart with two thousand, four hundred and sixty-three (2463) spins.

The song is also the most played Afrobeats song on Ghanaian radio.

He enjoyed 9, 186 plays with six songs – ‘One Man’ (17), ‘Next time I see you’ (61), ‘Freaky Lord’ (71), and ‘End In tears’ (85) – representing 13.4% of the total number of airplay.

Stonebwoy had a total of 9, 898 plays representing 14.5% of the total airplay with eight songs. His songs the Keri Hilson-featured ‘Nominate,’ ‘Sobolo’ and Putuu Freestyle (Pray) occupy the 3rd, 5th and 8th positions respectively.

Sarkodie has 3, 152 plays making 4.61% of the Top 100 Most Played Songs.

Mr. Drew had 2, 699 spins representing 2.95% – he debuted on the chart at number 13 with the song ‘Later’ featuring KelvynBoy.

Adina had 2, 382 plays constituting 3.49% of the total airplay, and is the only female artiste with a top 10 most played song – the Stonebwoy-assisted ‘Take Care of You.’

A two-hour immersive show hosted by Antoine Mensah aired on partner radio stations, Asaase Radio 99.5 in Accra, Pure 95.7 FM in Kumasi, and on Empire 102.7 FM in Takoradi over five consecutive days between Saturday, December 26 to Wednesday, December 30, 2020.

The show featured tastemakers and stakeholders in the Ghanaian music space, sharing their hot takes on the songs and artists who made the charts.

Muse Bangers of the Year 2020 focused on songs released between January 1st and November 30th, 2020. The data size covered over 8, 000 songs that have been tagged and tracked by the artificial intelligence platform built by technology partner for the initiative, GHUD Music, and covering several genres.
