Health Officials have no indication as to the specific date Ghana will receive its first doses of the COVID-19 vaccine, Minister-designate for Health, Mr Kwaku Agyemang-Manu has said.
Nonetheless, he said he expects the vaccine to hit the country between the middle of February and early March.
“The indication that we have, those of us that are working in trying to bring in the vaccines is between mid-February and early March. As for a specific date that we are getting any vaccine, we still do not have any indication,’ he said.
“Despite the President’s efforts, talking to top people in GAVI, UNICEF, government bilateral level, diplomatic high levels there is not a single indication of a date.”
The Minister-designate for Health was responding to a question from the Minority Leader and Ranking Member of the Appointments Committee of Parliament today, during his vetting by the Appointments Committee.
At least 355,000 doses of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine is expected by March to cover an estimated 20 million Ghanaians.
