The Police have shot dead a suspected armed robber and arrested two others after an exchange of gunfire at a block factory at Haatso in Accra.
They had picked up information that a group of armed robbers was planning to rob the owner of the block factory, hence they laid an ambush in the area to thwart that plan.
According to a statement issued by the police, on the 8th of February at about 11:30am, whilst the police team had laid an ambush in the neighborhood, four men besieged the company under the pretext of engaging in a business transaction and insisted on seeing the CEO of the block factory.
In the process, they pulled out pistols and took the men hostage amidst sporadic shooting on the premises and the police then moved in and there were some exchanges. In the process, one of them was killed and two arrested. One of them escaped amidst firing.
Those arrested are Christian Anagbla, 38, and Emmanuel Gavor, 53.
Upon interrogations, they admitted their involvement in the attempted robbery and mentioned the one at large as Isaac.
The Police have retrieved a Millenium Pistol with 5 rounds of ammunition and the deceased robber, Julius Duvor has been deposited at the Police Hospital Morgue for preservation.
