The Functional Executive Committee of the National Democratic Congress has requested a refund of deposits it made in respect of its Presidential and Parliament candidates.
A letter sighted by Kasapafmonline.com dated February 09, 2021, and addressed to the Electoral Commission said the party’s Presidential/Parliamentary Candidates have met the legal threshold for refund.
Per regulations, 46(1) and 46(3) of C.I 127 spell out the conditions for refund or forfeiture of deposits made by Presidential or Parliamentary Candidates.
According to the C.I, a Presidential or Parliamentary candidate must obtain a minimum of 25% and 12.5% respectively in a General Election to qualify for a refund.
Meanwhile, the EC’s Accountant on Tuesday, March, 02, 2021 authorized payment of the refund after the EC’s clearance.
