The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) Bernard Antwi Boasiako popularly Kown as Chairman Wontumi has began mobilising NPP government appointees in Accra ahead of the 2024 general election.
Youth groups in Ashanti region have been accusing the ruling party of neglecting its stronghold whose votes significantly contributed to the victory of the party in 2016 and 2020 general elections.
Although the allegation has been refuted by the party, the party believes the region deserves more than it has been given in the area of development.
In view of these concerns the regional Chairman of the party is hosting all the ruling Party’s government appointees from Ashanti based in Accra to a dinner on 14th July, 2020.
Wontumi will use the occasion to show appreciation to the appointees for the show of commitment to him which resulted in his re-election and the support they gave to the party in 2020 general elections particularly in Ashanti region.
The event will equally be used to start planning for the 2024 election which has already been discribed as crucial following the NPP agenda to set a new record of break the 8 years rule limit of the two major political parties – NPP and NDC.
Andy Owusu special assistant to Wontumi said, the party has done a lot of projects in the region of which majority are on its completing stage.
He said, by the time the party completes the second term in office, Ashanti region will be singing praises of the government for prioritizing the region’s development.
