WMA initiates planting for export and rural development programme

The Wenchi Municipal Assembly has initiated a new programme called Planting and Export for Rural Development to improve economic growth of the people.

The Municipal Chief Executive for Wenchi Honourable Dr Prince Kwakye Afiriyie announced this when he paid working visit to the Seed Production Division in the Wenchi Municipality on Friday February 15,2019.

Apart from government's flagship Program, Planting for Food and Jobs the assembly itself has initiated a new program called Planting for food and Export for Rural Development to create jobs for the people in the Wenchi Municipality Hon Dr Prince Kwakye Afiriyie said.

According to him the Assembly has chosen these cash crops to be cultivated under the program, Cashew, Cocoa, Coffee among other cash crops.

He revealed that under the said Program, the Wenchi Municipal Assembly is going to distributes 300,000 seedlings of Cocoa and 17000 seedlings of coffee to Farmers in the Municipality with no cost.

The MCE therefore urged farmers in the Municipality most especially the youth to embrace the programme.
