Ghana's Ambassador to Denmark, Her Excellency Amerley Ollennu Awua-Asamoah (MRS.), through the Global Medical Did- Denmark Humanitarian Assistance Program have secured over $1 million worth general medical equipment for nine health facilities in the Wenchi Municipality.
The equipment included two Dental chairs with equipment, one isolate infant incubator, four examination beds, thirty two boxes of cleaning clothes, twenty infusions pumps and syringe pumps, forty seven boxes Nursery equipment among other things.
At a presentation ceremony at Wenchi in the Bono Region on behalf of the Ambassador the Municipal Chief Executive for Wenchi Hon Dr Prince Kwakye Afiriyie explained that the equipment was to support and promote quality healthcare in the Municipality.
I recalled early this year Her Excellency Amerley Ollennu Awua-Asamoah makes donation of medicenes to the Wenchi Methodist Hospital, her contribution to the health sector in the Municipality this year worth about $ 1. 8 million Dr Prince Kwakye Afiriyie said.
He also commended the Ghana's Ambassador to Denmark for her kind gesture and charged Wenchi Citizens both home and abroad to emulate the Busia families syndrome of supporting other sectors in the Wenchi Municipality.
Chief Executive Officer of the Wenchi Methodist Hospital who is also the Lay President of the Methodist Church Ghana,Mr. B. C. K. Botcwe expressed appreciation to Her Excellency Amerley Ollennu Awua-Asamoah for her intervention.
According to him one of the major challenges facing the hospital was unavailability of space to keep incubators.
He said the hospital authorities have acquired a piece of land at the facility to put up a building for children department and NICU.
Mr Botcwe appealed to the Wenchi Municipal Assembly, government, individuals and benevolent organizations to support the hospital.
Former Ghana US Console Dr Obeng Busia on behalf of Her Excellency Amerley Ollennu Awua-Asamoah and the Busia family expressed their appreciation for the warm welcome received from the people of Wenchi.
Dr Obeng Busia said Wenchiman should expect more from Her Excellency Amerley Ollennu Awua-Asamoah and the Busia family.
The Municipal Health Director of the Ghana Health Service in the Wenchi Municipality Dr Prince Quashie received the items and promise to use the equipment with care.
The Acting President of Wenchi Traditional Area Nana Asimpi Adinkra Kosopre also commended Mrs. Amerley Ollennu Awua-Asamoah for her kind gesture and charged the recipient institutions to use the donated equipment with care to ensure their intended beneficiaries.
