IGP’s top aide quits police service, ventures into NDC parliamentary politics

The Executive Secretary to the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Superintendent Peter Lanchene Tuubo has quit the Ghana Police Service to run for parliament on the ticket of the main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Wa West Constituency of the Upper West Region.

A few months ago, Supt. Tuubo became the toast of the country when a video, in which he was captured explaining why the constitution of the Police Council per the dictates of the 1992 Constitution, automatically politicises the Ghana Police Service and makes it a tool for whichever party is in power, went viral on social

The Wa West seat is currently being occupied in parliament by Joseph Yieleh Chireh, who is running for re-election.

Supt. Tuubo will have to win the parliamentary primary of the constituency and also win the national election to be successful in his bid to be a lawmaker.
