SDA Church To Construct Teaching Hospital

The Mid- North Ghana Conference of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in collaboration with Faith Path International Ministry in the United States of America is set to put up an ultra mordern Teaching Hospital at Forikrom in the Techiman Municipality of the Bono East Region.

The project has been estimated to cost of $50 million dollars. A sod cutting ceremony for the construction of an Adventist Teaching Hospital was held in Techiman in Bono Regional capital, the headquarters of Mid- North Ghana Conference of the Seventh Day Adventist Church.

The facility would be built on a 40- acre land and it is expected to be completed in 2021. The construction will be completed in two phases, of which the first phase is expected to be ready in 2020 with a bed capacity of over 250.

The facility when completed will see the opening of the outpatient services, laboratory, pharmacy and speciality clinic.

Speaking at the sod cutting ceremony to commence the construction work, the Founder of Faith Path International Ministry, Dr. Dona Cooper- Dockery, told Media personal what motivated her to set up the facility at Forikrom.

" I saw people dying from diseases that are curable and treatable in the United States. I was in the Emergency Room at the Valley View Adventist Hospital when a patient came with a complication from Diabetes, we did not have the health resources, medication and equipment to actually reverse the disease and the patient did not do well. It touched me because in the United States we have so much and here we have so little. We have patients dying from curable diseases and that is why we are bringing this Teaching Hospital to this area Dr. Cooper Dockery said.

She added that the facility would provide first- class healthcare in Ghana.

Dr. Cooper- Dockery reiterated that they would have over 250 beds, with different specialists and it will be a refferral hospital because she realised that there are not many refferral hospitals here.

The Director of the Ghana Adventist Health Services, Pastor Dr. Paul Amo Kyeremeh assured that the resources allocated for the project would be used accordingly for its completion on time.

Medical Director of the Valley View University Hospital at Techiman, Dr. Seth Agyemang lauded the initiative.

We just have four teaching hospitals in Ghana, one in Ho is coming up and with a population of 30 million,it is just inadequate, that is why it is good we expand Dr. Seth Agyemang noted.

The Chief of Forikrom, Nana Kesse Basahyia II, admonished the citizenry to take advantage of the project.

Nana Kesse Basahyia II also commended the Seventh Day Adventist Church bringing the project at Forikrom.
