Wenchi Chieftaincy Disputes - MCE Calls For Calm

The Wenchi Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Hon Dr Prince Kwakye Afiriyie has called for calm in Wenchi following the nomination and swearing the oath of allegiance by Nana Anye Amoanpong Tabrako III as the new Omanhene of Wenchi Traditional Area.

Addressing the assembly members and heads of department of Wenchi Municipal Assembly on the occasion of second ordinary meeting of the fourth session of the seventh assembly of Wenchi Municipal Assembly on Monday, the MCE said the Wenchi Chieftaincy Dispute is before the Judicial Committee of the Bono, Bono East and Ahafo Regionals House of Chiefs.

Hon Dr Prince Kwakye Afiriyie appealed to the various Royal families to excercise restrain till their date in court.

Touching on other security issues within the Municipality he said there are a number of security issues handled by the Wenchi Municipal Security Council (MUSEC)  , especially the Awisa school land dispute, Nchiraa Teak Plantation issues and the Wenchi Chieftaincy issues amongst others.

MUSEC dealt with these issues deligently he said.

According to the MCE Awisa school land issue was reffered to the Physical Planning Department to study the land documents of the two feuding parties to ascertain the boundaries of the land as stipulated by the factions and advise MUSEC.

He emphasized that the Wenchi Municipal Security Council will continue to be on the ground and use pramatics strategies to deal with the issues to avert any conflicts that would disturb the peace of Wenchi.
