A Day Training On Drying And Storage Of Mango Organized

The Methodist University College Faculty of Agriculture - Wenchi Campus organized one day training on drying and storage of mango.

Facilitator of the training, Mr Daniel Owusu Kyeremateng told newsmen that apart from the training they offered on drying and storage, they have been given another support by the Ghana Government and Denmark Government to trained mango farmers in Atebubu and Nkoranza on integrated management methods to manage the bacterial black spot disease that affects the mango farmers.

According to Mr Daniel Owusu Kyeremateng,as a result of the training this chemical that has been used by the South Africa to mitigate the bacterial black spot disease came up and the name of the chemical is Bayon.

The chemical is being recommended among the farmers so that they can help the farmers to find a lasting solutions to the disease, Mr Kyeremateng said.

He further explained that the Methodist University College Faculty of Agriculture - Wenchi campus is also conducting training among the farmers to know the management method they put in place and also what to do to mitigate the bacterial black spot disease.

Sixty six participants from the kintampo Mango Farmers Association in the Bono East Region attended the workshop.



Mr Samuel Effah Nimoh, the Secretary of the Association said they are happy with the training.

We will now know how to dry and stores our mangoes from post harvest losses.

Mr Nimoh added.
