Part of a 9 bedroom compound house that collapsed at Twimia-Nkwanta in the Techiman Municipality of Bono East region has resulted to the death of one and another seriously injured.
Father of the victims, Badu Thomas in an interview with Nana Kwadwo Adu of Asta Fm recounted that the sad incident occurred at about 4am on Sunday while they were asleep.
He identified the deceased as 11 year old Cindy Boakye whose body has been deposited at the Holy Family Hospital morgue while her 23 year old sister Salomey Nyamekye receives treatment at the Valley View Adventist Hospital.
On his part, Hon. Kasim Adam, Assembly member for the area confirmed the disaster reiterating while he had warned his electorates about such “death trap” buildings and called on the Techiman municipal assembly to act before more lives are lost.
Meanwhile, Mr. Eric Asiedu, Techiman Municipal NADMO Director told Asta Fm's Nana Kwadwo Adu that the rest of the collapsed building would be pulled down immediately to save the lives of the other 12 tenants as his outfit had already began an operation to demolish all such structures in the Techiman municipality.
