Wenchi Municipality Records 11,223 Teenage Pregnancies In 3 Years

Available data at the Municipal Health Directorate of the Ghana Health Service in Wenchi Municipality in the Bono Region shows that a total of 11,223 teenage girls got pregnant over the past three years.

The teenage mothers were age between 10 and 18 years.

Ms Eva Asantewaa a public health nurse at the Wenchi Municipal Health Directorate disclosed this at the just ended International day of the girl child celebration at the Holy Thrinity Catholic Church in Wenchi.

She said that 3,593 teenage pregnancies were recorded in 2016,  2017 recorded 3,766 while 3,864 pregnancies were recorded.

Ms Eva Asantewaa further explained that the prevailing situation is very high.

She expressed worry about the situation and advised the young girls to avoid any activities that have the tendency to effect their future.
