
At least 10 women made it into the list of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s nominees for various deputy ministerial positions in his second term.
The President on Wednesday, 21st April 2021, submitted to the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, the names of the nominees for Parliament’s prior approval.
The female deputy ministers-designate include Tina Gifty Mensah [Health], Abena Osei-Asare [Finance], Nana Dokua Asiamah Adjei [Trade and Industry], Diana Asonaba Dapaah [Office of Attorney General & Ministry of Justice], and Gifty Twum-Ampofo [Education].
The rest are Mavis Nkansah-Boadu [Roads & Highways], Naana Eyiah Quansah [Interior], Ama Pomaa Boateng [Communications & Digitalisation], Lariba Zuweira Abudu [Gender, Children & Social Protection], and Fatimatu Abubakar [Information].
Apart from Abena Osei-Asare, Tina Mensah, Gifty Twum-Ampofo, and Nana Dokua Asiamah Adjei, who are old appointees from the president’s first term, the rest are new appointees to be considered for various deputy ministerial portfolios.
In all, 39 nominees were announced for 24 portfolios.
