The Minister-in-charge of Fisheries and Aquaculture, Mavis Hawa Koomson has urged citizens who might have consumed the recent washed ashore dolphins to own up immediately to aid in their investigations into the incident
According to her, the unusual development has caused fear and panic to consumers of fish in the country
In an engagement with the fishing community in Accra, the sector Minister indicated that various samples have been taken for investigations as to the cause of the sudden washed ashore fishes in the country
She furthered that, the various agencies and department of the Food and Drugs Authority, Environmental Protection Agency and Fisheries Commission are still tracing those fishes on the market
Meanwhile, the Chief Executive Officer of the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA), Delese Mimi Darko also added that samples have been sent to a laboratory for testing.
She assured that stringent measures will be taken to ensure public safety.
Delese Mimi Darko, therefore, cautioned Ghanaians to be on a lookout for any sample of the fishes on the market.
