Mr. Larry Paa Kwesi Moses, Regional President of Ghana Journalists Association in charge of Bono, Bono East and Ahafo Regions has called on the National Media Commission, GJA and other Stakeholders to crack the whip in ensuring Higher Standards of Professionalism in the field of Journalism as the number of Media Houses keep increasing by the day.
According to the GJA President, it is sad to monitor our airwaves and realize that many Media Personnel deliberately go against the Ethics of Journalism by publishing fake news, engaging in embellishment, sensationalism, profanity as well as politically, religiously and ethnically biased reportage which if not checked "Named & Shamed" could jeopardize the good imagine of the Profession as well as the peace of our Nation.
Mr. Larry Moses spoke in an interview with Asta Fm's Nana Kwadwo Adu in Techiman when the Bono East Regional Coordinating Council partnered the Department of Gender to train over 30 selected Media Personnel on Gender Sensitive and Responsive Reportage on Sexual & Gender Based Violence and Child Marriage.
For her part, Mrs. Joycelyn Adii Bono Regional Director of Department of Gender called on Media Houses especially TV and Radio stations in Ghana to devote much of their airtime to report and discuss on Sexual & Gender Based Violence but in the right way and with the technical or Professional People.
Meanwhile, Madam Julian Mutaar an Assistant Director at the Bono East Regional Coordinating Council commended UNFPA for their contribution towards curbing abuses against women and children.
