The Municipal Chief Executive for Wenchi Hon Dr Prince Kwakye Afiriyie made the statement in his sessional address delivered at the First Ordinary Session of the Wenchi Municipal Assembly held last Friday at the Municipal Assembly Hall .
Honourable Dr Prince Kwakye Afiriyie stresses that the Wenchi Municipal Assembly has scored poorly especially in the area of open defecation in the latest District Open Defecation Free (ODF) rankings.
He reiterated that over the years, Wenchi Municipality has been performing averagely but all efforts should be made to perform appreciably, Wenchi Municipal with a score of 56. 5 placed 59 out of 216 Districts.
Hon. Pm, a critical look at the scoring 9 perimeters in Seven Sectors indicates that, Wenchi has been performing poorly especially in the area of open defecation hence all efforts to get Wenchi certify as open defecation free will be in line with this, the Assembly will seek to partner Community Water and Sanitation Agency, Plan Ghana Global Communities for the implementation of Community Led Total Sanitation (CLTS) to bring an end to open defecation Dr. Kwakye Afiriyie lamented.
He said it will take a political will, bold initiative, total support of the Assembly and Wenchiman to achieve the above.
